Mindfulness Yoga: East meets West to Reduce Stress

This first of three workshops on Mindfulness Yoga will focus on the Eastern and Western definition of mindfulness, how to apply mindfulness in your yoga practice and ways to take mindfulness yoga off the mat and into the world. Participants will explore mind-Less-ness and mind-Ful-ness in their own lives and ways to cultivate more mindfulness to reduce stress and engage in day to day life fully present. The workshop will include an introduction to mindfulness meditation techniques and guided reflection on your own life and yoga asana (poses).

ANGELA FILECCIA, MSW, LCSW, ERYT is a clinical social worker specializing in mental health and substance abuse counseling and utilizes mindfulness-based cognitive therapy in her counseling practice. Angela is interested in the intersection between Western mental health models and Eastern ideas of mindfulness and yoga. She’s been working in the field of mental health and substance abuse treatment since 2001; she completed her yoga teacher training certification in 2006. Angela is the lead instructor with the Om Land Yoga Teacher Training program and has been with Om Land Yoga since the studio opened in 2007.
