Heather Martin took her first hatha yoga class in 2009 while studying civil engineering at the University of Maine. At first, she thought yoga was just a new exercise class that helped her relieve tension and release endorphins. Yet she soon found herself closing her eyes during vinyasa, losing herself in the flow and the breath, and loving the challenge of exploring and achieving new postures. She finds yoga strengthens and heals her body but also gives her tools to help calm her mind on and off the mat. Heather now works as a consulting engineer and finds yoga helps balance her life. Driven by a desire to learn more and share her yoga experience with her peers, she enrolled in Om Land’s 200-hour yoga teacher training. In 2014, she completed her training and began teaching a beginner yoga class to her work peers. She continues to teach her peers and is also very excited to broaden her student base and teach in Om Land’s wonderful studios.
