Eric Newton’s yoga practice, beginning in 2004, is an ongoing exploration into the development of health and prana. What began as a way to blow off steam and explore physical possibilities has evolved into a comprehensive, continually growing practice. Eric is very grateful to be standing on the shoulders of the teachers that came before him. He has been influenced by the teachings of Ame Wren, Jacqui Bonwell, Terry Lacey, as well as those of his fellow teachers at Greener Postures and other Portland studios. He also draws from studying the literature of B.K.S. Iyengar, Mark Stephens, Doug Keller, Ray Long, Sage Rountree, and Deepak Chopra.
Expect a healthy balance of dynamic flow, alignment, breath work, and internal focus when you practice with Eric. He believes active participation in a well-rounded practice lightens the load of unnecessary burdens and increases self-awareness. Self-awareness can manifest in your body as improved health, in your breath as ease and comfort, and in your mind as balance between calm and alert. Come with an open mind and the willingness to work and play. Expect change and challenge.
